Where to stay in Abu Dhabi at a glance
Where to stay in Abu Dhabi depends on what fills most of your days. Four areas cover most trips: the Corniche, the museum island of Saadiyat, Yas Island and the area near the mosque around the Grand Canal and Al Maqta.
The areas are far apart, so the right base saves you hours in a taxi. This guide compares them by location and transport. It names no hotels and quotes no room rates, because those change by date. Always check the exact address of any hotel on a map.

Areas compared
Which base fits which trip.
| Area | Suits | What is nearby | Check before you book |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corniche | First visit, walks and beach time | Waterfront promenade, cycle paths, beach sections, Qasr Al Watan in Al Ras Al Akhdar | The mosque is a taxi or bus ride away |
| Saadiyat | Museums | Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, the announced Guggenheim | Walking distances inside the island are not guaranteed |
| Yas Island | Theme parks | Ferrari World, hotels around the parks, the Yas Express between fixed stops | The mosque is a separate trip |
| Grand Canal and Al Maqta | Mosque first | The mosque area between the bridges, dining and leisure at the Grand Canal | No guaranteed walk across water or highways |
For most visitors, the Corniche is a practical base: it is central and easy to link with the rest. If museums are your priority, choose Saadiyat. Families with children who want the theme parks should look at Yas, and visitors with only one night and a mosque focus can look near the Grand Canal. Day trips are easy to book on the Sheikh Zayed Mosque tours page.

The four areas in detail
What each one is like for a visitor.
Corniche
A central waterfront with a promenade, cycling paths and beach sections. A public beach area is free, while some sections charge a fee. Qasr Al Watan lies close to it. It is a good all-round choice if you want to see several sights without moving hotels.
Saadiyat
This is the museum district. The Louvre Abu Dhabi charges AED 70 for adults from 18 years in 2026, and the Zayed National Museum has been open since December 3, 2025. The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is announced for December 11, 2026 and is not open yet. Bus line 94 stops at Saadiyat Louvre and at teamLab Phenomena, and also serves the mosque.
Yas Island
Hotels here sit around the theme parks. Ferrari World charges AED 345 online in 2026, and the operator runs the Yas Express between fixed stops. Yas is a good base for a park-focused trip, but expect a ride to reach the mosque.
Grand Canal and Al Maqta
The mosque sits between the Maqta, Mussafah and Sheikh Zayed bridges, and the Grand Canal area has dining and leisure options. Distances here are not always short on foot, so check the hotel address against the mosque on a map. Do not assume you can walk over the water or across a highway.
How to choose your base
Four questions that settle it.
How many days do you have?
With two or three days, one base is enough. Choose the area of your main sight and use taxis or line 94 for the rest. Taxi fares in 2026 start at AED 5 with a minimum fare of AED 12. Bus fares are AED 2 plus AED 0.05 per km, up to AED 5.
Do you want an evening visit?
The mosque is lit in the evening, and a self-guided night visit runs outside the regular hours. If you drive, note that vehicles cannot stay in the mosque car parks between 23:00 and 04:00. A hotel nearby or a taxi back solves that. See the mosque at night.
When do you travel?
From June to September the average daily high passes 40 ยฐC, so a hotel with a short transfer matters more. In winter the walks are easier. See the best time to visit for monthly figures.

Where to stay in Abu Dhabi: frequently asked questions
What is the best area to stay in Abu Dhabi?
For most first visits, the Corniche is a good base because it is central. Saadiyat suits museum trips, Yas suits theme parks, and the Grand Canal area suits a mosque-first stay.
Can I walk to the mosque from my hotel?
Only if the hotel is very close, and even then water and highways can make the route long. Check the address on a map, and ask the hotel about a taxi or shuttle.
Do hotels have a view of the mosque?
Some may, but a view cannot be taken for granted. Ask the hotel directly before you book if it matters to you.
How do I get from Saadiyat to the mosque?
Bus line 94 stops at Saadiyat Louvre and at the mosque. The fare is AED 2 plus AED 0.05 per km, up to AED 5 per trip.
Is this site connected to any hotel?
No. This is an independent travel guide and is not connected to any hotel, tourism authority or the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.
